I am always lacking something, but I am acutely missing my man bennies right now.
I stood there staring at the flat tire, fussing and fuming, WWJD? What would Jimmie Do?
6:30 on a Saturday night, work in a few hours and my tire was flatter than my post baby boobs.
I considered, briefly , scanning the yellow pages in a hurried attempt to find a tire service open, yeah right! Idea failure! Check!
Onto idea two, faithful Son-in-Law. Duhhh..........he is in Maine vacationing briefly in a snow bank the size of Mt. Katahdin. Idea failure........grumbling.......check!
Driving the three miles to the gas station, tires flapping, rims creating sparks like a fourth of july display...........thinking about it longer than I should..........idea failure! Check!
I decided to go back in the house at that point and consider my options. Perhaps the tire would magically expand, getting me to Monday when I could replace it.
There are certain aspects about marriage that are awesome. There is of course the obvious, but the most important is the vast list of man benefits.
1. Built in auto mechanic...........or at the very least the man is the one responsible for taking it to the garage to be fixed. My hubbie happens to be mechanically inclined. Lucky Me!
2.Chauffer in bad weather. I miss this one. Nothing gets me more irritable then driving in lousy weather. The laws of "screw me I lack man bennies" have hit me hard this winter. Every nasty storm has coincided with my ever nasty work schedule.
3. The Final Word! Miss this alot , its like my own rentable back bone. I am spineless. Any pressure from the kids and I crumble. Recently I tried to employ Jim’s backbone long distance. Gabe just refused to talk to him on the phone. I hung up deflated, Gabe grinned in triumph. Effective!
I could go on, but after my top three, you get the idea that I am really suffering here.
I did solve the flat tire issue, by the way. I bought four cans of fix-a-flat. One I used, the others I have stored safely in my trunk. There is bound to be a next time.
I still want my man bennies back, I am feeling deprived and whiney.
